I finished it last night and honestly, I can't see what everyone is griping about. A solid, not great, game with a good cinematic story and enough action sequences. I see a lot of complaining about the price versus the length of the game. If the game sold for $29.99 would people have given it a better score. It's still the same game no matter what the price and that's why the game should be reviewed on its merits and faults not on how much it cost. I'd score it a 7.5 out o...
Clearly the deep pockets of M$ have paid of the Saudi and Kuwait governments to ban The Order from their respective countries!!! The lengths MS will go holds no bounds!!! ;-) I kid, I kid
I'd actually think about buying a companion book if they sold one. Would like to see the blueprints for the airship.
RaD was probably going for a sepia tone to The Order.
It's amazing that all these reviewers know exactly how to make the games better. It's no wonder they haven't gotten together and created some great games of their own.
This game really is a steampunk fan's dream! I spent a good bit of time just looking around inside the dirigible.
You best bet is to find a media outlet that you feel closely aligns with your interpretation of good and bad games. And go with them for your reviews, if you still rely on reviews. Game Informer is the closest for me. I think they gave The Order 7.75 which is about what I'd give it.
So I dropped $6 on Titanfall. Wasn't too impressed with the beta, but I'm interested in how the final product turn out. At this price it's not really too much of a gamble.
@BlackTar-But that's the problem with the gaming media these days. Instead of reporting on gaming developments and news, they feel they must dictate how the industry and gamers must do and feel about games.
Riiight! And you have a super model girlfriend, a Ferrari, a yacht and a private jet. ;)
@spacedelete- haha keep beating that drum! So now its bad or inconsequential that The Order is at the top of the UK charts?
@kidmyst- No no no!! The voice acting is horrible. They all breath like Tony Soprano when they talk!! At least that's what some article was complaining about a couple days ago.
I never noticed it but it must be true! There goes another point reduction from my rating of the game! /s
@nerdeu- I seriously doubt you've been gaming longer than me. I cut my gaming teeth on the Apple II+ and the Atari 2600.
Oops. Stupid phone.
Wow! So it changed it by 3%. His point about the averages being about the same still stands. And you must be new to gaming if you think 15 months into a new generation is a long time. Smh
The Order's uniqueness is what has so many people up in arms. R@D has always said they were aiming to make an interactive cinematic game. While it doesn't seem to be everyone's cup of tea it still stands out unique against a backdrop of FPS and sandbox games.
So to say Sony isn't taking risks this generation is false. Will The Order pay off? We'll have to wait and see.
Why wasn't TLOU: Left Behind downgraded in reviews for costing $14.99 for 40 minutes of gameplay with a lot of cutscenes and QTE, I might add?
I've never had a problem with letterbox/black bars. I notice it initially and then after a minute or so never see it again when watching movies or playing games.
The black bars thing is really a non-issue that critics have latched onto as a deal breaker for The Order. Petty
@zidane1341 -If the PS4 is PS3.5 in your mind, what do you consider the X1?
So you downgraded it because it wasn't in the perspective you wished it was in? That's like saying you didn't like Mario Kart because you wished the cars weren't so cartoony and not realistic enough.
Maybe you should review the game on how it is and not how you wished it was.
